NWSL: The Washington Spirit advanced to the National Women’s Soccer League championship game with a 2-1 victory over OL Reign (Seattle) on Sunday. The Spirit, undefeated in their last eight matches, will face the Chicago Red Stars next Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky. It’s the first time the Spirit has gone to the postseason since 2016. Dennis Rodman’s 19-year-old daughter Trinity Rodman scored for the Spirit before Ashley Sanchez’s winner in the 68th minute.

NHL/The Capitals: Garnet Hathaway scored his third goal in two games, Alex Ovechkin added two assists and the Washington Capitals spoiled Sidney Crosby’s return, routing the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-1. Martin Fehervary, Daniel Sprong, Conor Sheary, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Tom Wilson also scored for Washington, which won its fourth straight game and pulled even with Carolina atop the Metropolitan Division. They’ll travel to Anaheim for Tuesday night’s game with the Ducks.
