(Annapolis, MD) -WNAV-A parade steps off from people’s park on Calvert Street and turns onto West Street, where Mayor Gavin Buckley and members of the city council who have been elected or re-elected, will take their oaths of office. As a result—there will be street closures.
Upper West Street (between Church Circle and Calvert Street) was closed yesterday for the Chocolate Binge Street Festival, contuse to be closed today.
West Street will reopen at approximately 8 p.m. tonight. . There will be brief (and rolling) road closures on Calvert Street as the parade steps off from People’s Park around 1 pm.
Today’s parade is scheduled to feature the Annapolis Drum and Bugle Corp;, Sea Scouts Color Guard, Annapolis Police and Annapolis Fire Color Guard(s), Naptown Brass Marching Band, United States Naval Academy Marching Band, the American Fife and Drum Corp, Karnival Bounce Crew, the US Army “Old Guard” Silent Drill Team, and the Annapolis High School Marching Band. In addition, artist Jeff Huntington will be refreshing the mural, “Agony and Ecstasy Live Together in Perfect Harmony.”
Lieutenant Governor Boyd Rutherford is scheduled to deliver remarks at the inauguration at 2:30. Others scheduled are Maryland’s two U.S. Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin, Anne Arundel County Executive Stueart Pittman.
Anne Arundel Clerk of the Court Scott Poyer will swear in Mayor Buckley for his second term. Mayor Buckley will swear in the eight aldermen and alderwomen and deliver remarks.
