Hogan makes fund available to help tornado victims

Governor Larry Hogan has made available $4 million in aid for residents and businesses impacted by the tornado that tore through Edgewater and Annapolis back in September.

The funding can be used for home repairs, business loans, and short-term rental assistance.

Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman, along with Hogan, had requested that the Federal Emergency Management Agency, FEMA, declare a major disaster so that federal funds could be made accessible to those who need to rebuild, however, FEMA declined the request.

A total of 10 buildings between Anne Arundel County and Annapolis have been classified as destroyed with 53 more suffering major damage.
