Anne Arundel Public Schools Sticks with it’s In-Person Plans Despite Letter Sent to Staff

(Annapolis, MD) -WNAV- A check of today’s Anne Arundel County Public School system Covid19 Dashboard shows a sharp rise in the number of active cases and quarantining.

Tuesday there were 2,849 students in quarantine. This morning the number jumped by 388, to 3,234. Yesterday there was 57 staff, this morning the dashboard says there are 72. As for active student cases, they have increased by 169 to 833, and by 3 for staff, from 42 to 45.

Schools superintendent George Arlotto sent a letter to teachers and staff asking them to bring home all portable devices for the winter break to ensure they are properly charged and in working condition —for inclement winter weather conditions that might prevent teachers from coming to school.

In bold he writes, quote, We Have No Plant At this Time to Convert to Virtual Instruction and will do so only as a last resort.

The letter sent to WNAV from Schools spokesman, Bob Mosier, reiterates the plan to have AACPS continue with in-person instruction through June 22, 2022, which is the last scheduled day for students.
