(Annapolis, MD)-WNAV-An impasse is being declared for Anne Arundel County teachers in their negotiations with the Anne Arundel County school board.
Officials from the teachers’ union say “enough is enough” about the lack of collaboration with teachers on their contract concerning: workload, teacher pay, unavailable substitutes as needed, and a scheduled increase in the teachers’ share of payment for health care benefits.
The formal IMPASSE means a mediation between teachers, board of education members, and a third-party negotiator has to be scheduled. They will make an effort to come to an agreement. If that effort fails, then the next step is bringing in an arbitrator who will have the authority to make decisions and resolve disputes.
The Board of Education meets tonight to consider Superintendent George Arlotto’s plan for 3 early dismissal days this semester.
