Anne Arundel County Police Officer Hospitalized After Multi-Vehicle Crash

(Millersville, MD) WNAV — A detective in an unmarked police car was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer at around 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 6. The police vehicle was pushed into a pickup truck when it was struck according to Anne Arundel County Police. The officer sustained serious injuries and was evacuated by helicopter to a local trauma center. The officer is in stable condition, and the tractor-trailer driver was sent to a trauma center with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. A passenger in the tractor truck and the driver of the pickup truck that was struck by the police vehicle also sustained minor injuries.

 

Maryland State Police assisted in the wake of the incident and The Anne Arundel County Police Traffic Safety Unit is conducting an ongoing investigation. It is not known whether driver error or a mechanical failure is to blame for this crash, but drugs and alcohol are not believed to have been a factor.
