(Annapolis, MD) WNAV — Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman delivered his state of the county address on the morning of Monday, Dec. 13, 2021. Pittman said violent crime is down in Anne Arundel County despite a rise in violent crime across the nation. He said this is because of coordinated housing for those who have lacked opportunity in the past, good availability of livable-wage jobs, sustained efforts by non-profit organizations, and high-quality county police officers.
The county executive added that Anne Arundel is in good hands, financially speaking. He said the county has the highest ever balance in the rainy-day fund, and he hopes for a triple-A bond rating from Moody’s next month. Triple-A is the highest bond rating a municipality can receive, and it would allow Anne Arundel to sell bonds at more advantageous rates. Anne Arundel is already ranked triple-A by S&P and holds the second-highest rating from Moody’s.
