Annapolis, MD (WNAV) m–Annapolis Police are investigating an attempted abduction near Bates Middle School on Wednesday afternoon. A student told police she was walking to a bus stop along Spa Road at about 3:30 p.m. when a man tried to grab her. The student ran and called her mother who contacted a teacher who brought the girl back to the school. When police arrived the student told investigators that the man who tried to grab her was white and he drove away in a turquoise car. Anyone with information is asked to call the police.
Bob Mosier, the spokesman for the school system provided WNAV with the following comment: “First and foremost, we have been and continue to be supportive of this student and her family as they work through this trauma. The student did exactly what schools and families impart to their children: to tell a responsible adult immediately. She had the presence of mind to reach out to her mother and she alerted school staff who were in a position to render immediate aid. Staff at Bates continue to work with the Annapolis Police Department on this case.”
