A Raccoon With Rabies Found Tuesday in Severna Park

A rabid raccoon was found in the Chartwood neighborhood in Severna Park. Officials with the Anne Arundel County Department of Health are looking for people or pets who may have come into contact with a raccoon near Wellerburn Avenue and Faircastle Avenue. The raccoon was found on Tuesday and tested positive for rabies. If you had contact or a pet has unexplained wounds you should call the health department at 410 222 7254. Rabies is a fatal disease and preventive treatment must be started as soon as possible.

    Simple advice: Make sure your pets are vaccinated against rabies. I’m talkin’ dogs, cats, horses, and any livestock that you want kept safe. This is a horrible disease, that can become VERY costly. Don’t risk it!
