The Maryland Lottery and Gaming Control Agency's core mission is to generate revenue to support good causes in Maryland, including education, public health, public safety, and the environment. Since its inception in 1973, the agency has contributed more than $17 billion in revenue to the State, and Lottery players have won more than $28.2 billion in prizes. To achieve our mission, we provide entertaining games that are run with honesty, integrity and transparency, and give Marylanders 18 years of age and older the chance to win cash and other great prizes.

Responsible Play:
The Maryland Lottery encourages responsible play. Remember, its only a game.

Playing the Maryland Lottery can be a fun and exciting form of entertainment. Participating responsibly can help ensure playing the Lottery remains a game for you.

While most individuals are able to play responsibly within their limits, some do lose control. For those individuals, what starts out as fun and exciting can lead to dangerous consequences. Problem gamblers jeopardize everything important in their lives including their family, friends, job, and finances.

The Maryland Lottery is committed to ensuring that individuals have access to assistance with problem gambling should they need it.

A 24-hour, 365-day helpline can be reached at 1-800-GAMBLER. The helpline connects individuals to services including counseling, treatment, self-help and support groups. You can also gather more information through the Maryland Alliance for Responsible Gambling at mdgamblinghelp.org.
