Pat O'Malley is the dean of local sports reporters, having continuously covered Anne Arundel County and the Baltimore Metro area as a print reporter for almost 40 years. He began in 1969 at the Baltimore News American, and has been with the Baltimore Sun since 1978. He's also a feature writer for What's Up? Annapolis.

In addition to print, Pat has been a radio and television broadcaster for the past 20 years, even hosting "Beat the Pros", a national radio show out of ABC Studios. He also hosted a televised version of the show on the USA Network, in addition to several regional shows in the 80s. Pat was nominated for cable television's Ace Award in 1984.

When not writing or broadcasting, Pat is the perennial ring announcer for the Naval Academy's Brigade Boxing & National Championships. He's been ring announcing for 17 years, primarily for Ballroom Boxing, which is televised to 181 countries on the Armed Forces Network.

Pat also spent 26 years as an amateur baseball coach Cardinal Gibbons High, Loyola High, and Loyola College. He's the summer coach of the Brooklyn Optimist Boys' Club and Gunther's Little Orioles. His coaching has led to four national titles, the last in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with Gunther's in 1995. He's coached twelve Major League players, including Mike Bielecki and John Stefero. His career coaching record: 1,536-439 (.770).

Since 1978, Pat O'Malley has been a scout with the St. Louis Cardinals, California/Anaheim/Los Angeles Angels and Baltimore Orioles.

In 2001, Pat was inducted into the Anne Arundel County Sports Hall of Fame as both a media personality and a coach.

He resides in Olde Severna Park with his wife, Judy; they have three grown children.
